Prof Antonino La Rocca is the former and last warden of Sherwood Hall in the University of Nottingham for 15 years (2006–2021). Prof La Rocca is a highly respected academic, being a professor of Applied Thermodynamics and Advanced Propulsion Systems. He was the last warden to inhabit the Warden's House at Sherwood Hall. His portrait by the artist Angelo Murphy is now exhibited in the Hall dining room in recognition of his service to the Hall, the University and the City.

He arrived in Nottingham with to complete a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering and was recruited as tutor first and then as Senior tutor for Lincoln Hall in 2001.

In 2006 he was appointed as Warden of Sherwood Hall. He undoubtedly worked hard to preserve Nottingham's Halls' finest traditions, such as holding one monthly formal dinner that was available to all students when practically all other Halls had cut back to one each term.

During his time at Sherwood Hall, the University progressively reduced the power and influence of all Wardens, especially with regard to finance, staffing and maintenance of the fabric. Still, he put forth a lot of effort for the good of the whole Hall system.
