Apex Assassin Autosport was founded by John Budrevic in 2022. In 2014, John began his automotive journey in the car audio industry when he received his first car in high school. He quickly learned basic automotive maintenance and 12v electrical systems from his father. With the start of his YouTube channel, he found himself making many upgrades to his audio system after attending his first car audio show, Slamfest 2014. After many years of upgrades and revisions to his car audio build, he felt that he reached his peak in the industry partnering with major enthusiasts brands such as Deaf Bonce & Crescendo Audio while reaching 11,000 followers across his social media. Over time this lead to his major build including 24 midrange speakers, 24 super tweeters, and 6 12 inch subwoofers, where he claims to have "used every inch of space the car had". Not to mention the 5 lithium battery banks used to supply power to the 9 amplifiers totaling 55,000 watts! In 2018, he found himself becoming interested in drag racing and road racing and started spectating different events in Florida. Shortly after he began parting out his car audio build and sold his car.

John's 2018 Car Audio Build

In mid 2018, John's girlfriend Bianca acquired her first car; a 1994 Acura Integra. They began fixing the car to make it suitable for daily driving since it was very low and had some minor issues. Over time they began modifying the car and adding performance parts such as turbocharger, ecu tune, and suspension. The car started out as with an automatic transmission which is where they ran into problems adding a turbocharger. The transmission started slipping and was then replaced with another transmission. Shortly after that one started slipping and eventually failed. They agreed to find a new daily driver for Bianca. At the same time John wanted to keep the Acura and turn it in to a track car. He purchased the Integra from Bianca and began major upgrades all while learning throughout the process. They started drag racing the car but felt the FWD platform was not for drag racing. In 2019, John entered his first track day at Sebring International Raceway. Here he quickly became aware of the importance of track prep when he started losing brakes into turn 7 during his first session. After this experience, the build started to become serious when he swapped the engine and started adding track oriented upgrades such as a roll cage, seat, harness, and big brakes. Over the next couple of years he attended many track events and continued upgrading the Acura. He eventually found himself desperate to be at the track. Thanks to his social media, he had a few mutual followers in the motorsports industry in whom he contacted to learn about becoming involved in professional motorsports. He was told to reach out to local groups and organizations to see who needed help so he could gain more experience and start building his resume. After receiving a handful of requests, one that stood out was Praga-Fellner Motorsports.

In 2021, John quickly accepted the offer to begin working with Praga-Fellner Motorsports on the weekends to help them catch up on projects. This began his career in prototype sports car racing. Fellner Motorsports was the only parts and service for the Praga R1 in the United States at the time so they primarily focused on that specific chassis but also had a few other cars in the shop. After spending a few weeks learning and working on the car, John joined Fellner Motorsports for his first real race weekend. Here is where he got a taste of professional motorsports at the FARA Memorial 300 at Homestead–Miami Speedway. After winning 5 out of 6 sprint races over the weekend, John was hooked. While at work the following week, John reached out to the owner of Fellner Motorsports inquiring on a full time position and moving down to south Florida. They came to agreement which lead John and his girlfriend Bianca to move to West Palm Beach, Florida.

For the remainder of 2021 and majority of 2022, John gained more experience and knowledge in a very short timeframe thanks to the variety of exposure. He worked on cars ranging from the BMW M2 CS race car to the Oreca 07 LMP2 in the FIA World Endurance Championship with fellow team Autoracing Club Bratislava. During this time, one of their Praga owners was inquiring on becoming a member at a new race track that was under construction near John's hometown in Tampa, Florida. At the same time, the closing of Palm Beach International Raceway in April 2022 disrupted their local business and industry. With the uncertainty of the near future, John took the opportunity to move back to his hometown and start his own motorsports team out of his home shop with plans to support Praga owners in Tampa Bay and north. This is when Apex Assassin Autosport was founded.

After spending the end of 2022 establishing his business, John started traveling solo in 2023 supporting his first two Praga owners at many club racing events around the south east. Shortly after, Praga Racing USA was established by Praga R1 owner Shane Anderson at Atlanta Motorsports Park. Apex Assassin Autosport became the local technical backbone for their operations after John demonstrated his knowledge and experience on the Praga R1 at a number of events. This lead to a successful first year for Apex Assassin Autosport with many events supporting Praga R1 owners in the southeast US.
