Audrey Forson is a Ghanaian furniture designer and entrepreneur. She is the managing director of Tekura, an indigenous Ghanaian furniture business.[1]

Audrey is the twin sister of Ghanaian journalist Francisca Kakra Forson

Career[edit]

Audrey Forson grew up with the family furniture firm, Tekura, that operated in their backyard. It piqued her interest and drove her to spend time analysing the mode of operation.[3] With her parent’s permission she worked as an intern at Tekura while still in school, and she progressed from filing to cleaning the gallery to collecting supplies for the artisans, among other tasks. Due to her first-hand experience, she was able to learn about many aspects of the organisation, which eventually helped her become the managing director. As the Managing Director, she shifted the company's focus from being exclusively an exporter to one that concentrated more on the Ghanaian and larger African markets.[4][3]

Recognition[edit]

In November 2022, one of her best[5]-selling products, the “Djembe” tables, were featured in the Hollywood movie Black Panther 2: Wakanda Forever.[6][7][8][9][10]
