Avas Online is a Maldivian daily newspaper established in November 2014. It publishes content in both Dhivehi and English, providing news coverage on a range of topics including politics, economics, culture, and sports. The newspaper is also one of the leading newspapers in the Maldives.[2]

The name "Avas" was derived from the Dhivehi language, where it signifies the antonym of "slow" and is synonymous with "quick" and "speedy." It also conveys the concept of accomplishing a task before schedule. In Dhivehi, the phrase **Avas Habaru** is used to denote Breaking News in the press.[3]
