Avionero is a travel planning and search engine that focuses on providing flexible flight search options, utilizing an AI-driven results engine.

Avionero provides a large selection of airlines for flight searches, according to the company, as well as live search results, avoiding the use of cached historical data. Avionero offers a flight search engine that allows users to search for flights based on criteria such as destination, country, region, theme, and flexible date ranges. The platform also includes hotel search and activity planning options.

The platform is available in English and has country-specific versions in several markets, including Sweden, Denmark, Norway, and Finland. Avionero generates revenue by charging travel providers a commission on bookings made through the platform. After Russia's invasion of Ukraine, many Russians used Avionero for flights.[1]

History

[edit]

Avionero was founded in November 2015 by Lars Kristensson, CEO and System Architect, and Anton Tyulenev, Vice President and Product Designer. Kristensson, a software developer with a background in AI, previously worked as a system architect for Momondo, where he identified limitations in existing flight search engines. Tyulenev joined Avionero after winning an online design competition for the platform.[2]

The company launched its live beta site in 2018, followed by the official release of Avionero 1.0 in December 2019. In early 2020, Avionero's expansion plans were delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. During this time, the company secured additional funding and refined its product.[3]
