Rear Admiral Barend Visser SD & Bar SM MMM SAN (Rtd) is a retired South African Navy Officer, who served as Chief of Logistics for the South African National Defence Force.

Naval career[edit]

He matriculated from Warmbaths High School in 1961 and joined the Navy on 8 January 1962 and attended the South African Military Academy from 1963, graduating in 1965 from Stellenbosch University.

He was a logistician who later served as Director Provisioning at the Logistics Division from 1994 to 1998. He was promoted to the rank of rear admiral on 1 April 1998. Chief Director Logistics Support [1] at Logistics Division and later migrated to Joint Support Division. Chief of Logistics from 1 April 1999. He retired from the SANDF with pension on 30 November 2002.
