Brian Gleeson is a rising Irish rugby union player who plays as a back-row forward for Munster Rugby.

Early Life and Career

Gleeson hails from Thurles, County Tipperary, Ireland. He began his rugby journey at Thurles RFC before attending Rockwell College, a renowned rugby nursery. At underage level, he also displayed talent in hurling for Tipperary. Gleeson's impressive performances on the rugby field caught the attention of Munster Rugby, who recruited him into their Academy in 2023.

Munster Rugby Academy

During his time in the Academy, Gleeson further honed his skills and gained valuable experience. He was a key member of the Ireland U20s team that achieved a Grand Slam in the 2023 Six Nations Championship and reached the final of the World Rugby U20 Championship. Gleeson's standout performances for both Ireland U20s and Garryowen in the All-Ireland League (AIL) Division 1A earned him a call-up to the Munster senior squad in September 2023.

Munster Senior Squad

Gleeson made a dream debut for Munster, scoring two tries against the Barbarians. His impressive display solidified his place in the senior squad, and he went on to make nine appearances in his debut season, scoring one try. In April 2024, his promising talent was rewarded with a two-year senior contract with Munster Rugby.
