Brian Malliet

Brian K. Malliet (born 17 May 1964) is the Founder, Chief Executive Officer, and Chief Investment Officer of BKM Capital Partners.[1]. Malliet has over 35 years of experience in commercial real estate and investment, Malliet has significantly influenced BKM's strategic direction and growth, nearly doubling the firm's size annually. Malliet's expertise in small and mid-bay light industrial properties is unparalleled, having acquired over 120 assets valued at approximately $3.2 billion and facilitated more than 150 million square feet of real estate transactions throughout his career.[2]

Early Life and Education

Brian K. Malliet was born on May 17, 1964, in Los Angeles County, Southern California. He is the son of Robert and Margaret Malliet and has three siblings: Linda Siegel, Shannon Dix, and Brent Malliet. Malliet holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from San Diego State University. He is also a member of NAIOP, the Commercial Real Estate Development Association.

Career

Voit Commercial Brokerage (1988-2000)

Brian Malliet began his career in commercial real estate at Voit Commercial Brokerage in 1988 as a leasing and investment broker[3].

BKM Development Company (2003-2009)

In 2003, Malliet founded BKM Development Company, a full-service real estate development company specializing in acquisition, development, construction, property repositioning, and asset management services[4]

Voit Real Estate Services (2009-Present)

In 2009, Malliet oversaw the sale of BKM Development Company to Voit Real Estate Services (VRES)[5], where he then assumed the roles of Co-Owner and Chief Investment and Operations Officer. During his tenure, he expanded the company from three to ten offices and established new divisions in capital investment, property management, and asset management.

BKM Capital Partners (2013-Present)

Brian Malliet is the Chief Executive Officer, Chief Investment Officer, and Founder of BKM Capital Partners. As a leader on BKM’s Investment Committee, he has been integral in the firm’s strategic direction and development, nearly doubling its size annually. Malliet brings over 35 years of commercial real estate and investment experience, having facilitated transactions in excess of 150 million square feet and acquiring over 120 light industrial and multi-use logistics assets in the Western U.S., valued at approximately $3.2 billion.[6]

Honors and Awards

  • In October 2022, Malliet received the Visionary Award for OC CRE Presented by the TimesOC in recognition of his visionary contributions to Orange County Commercial Real Estate.[7]
  • In September 2023, GlobeSt.com honored Malliet with the Influencers in Industrial Award for his significant impact on the industrial sector.

Philanthropy

Brian Malliet is also known for his community contributions. The BKM headquarters features a basketball court where children from local communities and underserved groups can practice. This initiative aims to provide a safe and supportive environment for youth development.

Personal Life

Brian Malliet has been married to Pamela Guevara for ten years and was previously married to Brenda Read. He has one child, Brock William Malliet.
