‘’’Brigitte (Brie) Read’’’ (born 10th May 1981) is a successful businesswoman owning multimillion pound business “Snag”. Originally trained as a psychologist, Brie has been a strong advocate within the fashion industry emphasizing her views on women’s empowerment and the embrace of all body types. After working for People’s Postcode Lottery, Brie became the Head of Marketing at Diet Chef, working her way up to CEO before selling the company to private investors[1]. Her experience with Diet Chef inspired her to start the company “Snag” in April 2018. Snag was started when Brigitte published a survey, reaching over 2000 people, which concluded that 90% of consumers couldn’t find the correct size of tights[2] . After developing throughout the pandemic Snag has evolved from solely selling hosiery to a wide product range. Today Snag sells a wide range of clothing with their own unique sizing structure which caters to those between sizes 2 and 36, as well as their size inclusivity, they have created a fully vegan and biodegradable product.

- In 2019 Brie won the Barclays Start up Entrepreneur of the Year.[3] -

- Brie won the title “Disruptor of the Year” for Scotland and Northern Ireland from the Great British Entrepreneur Awards[4] in 2020, In this year she also won the LDC “Award for resilience” [5]

- In December 2021 Brigitte won the NatWest Everywoman of the Year award for her contribution to the growth of her business.< ref name=”Everywoman”/>.[6] -

- In 2023 Snag Tights reached the final for Channel 4's "Diversity in advertising award"[7]

Upbringing:[edit]

Brigitte was born in Saudi Arabia and lived there for the first year of her life. She then spent the next few years moving all around the world, living in Qatar, Zimbabwe, South Africa, and Hong Kong. Around age 9, she lived in Dubai for around a year before moving to the UK and living in Surrey for 3 months. After this, when she was 11, she moved to Greece and stayed there to finish school. During her time at school, Brigitte was part of model UN and competed in many debating competitions. She also did forensics and competed in international competitions. She finished school at age 16, after scoring highly on her International Baccalaureate. At age 16, Brigitte moved to Scotland to start her Computer Science and psychology course at the University of Dundee. After she graduated, she chose to stay in Scotland, where she kickstarted her career.
