Submission declined on 29 April 2024 by ToadetteEdit (talk). This submission's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article—that is, they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject (see the guidelines on the notability of films). Before any resubmission, additional references meeting these criteria should be added (see technical help and learn about mistakes to avoid when addressing this issue). If no additional references exist, the subject is not suitable for Wikipedia.

- Comment: There is an off topic paragraph unrelated to the film; I suggest to remove that paragraph. ToadetteEdit! 07:30, 29 April 2024 (UTC)
- Comment: Fails WP:NFILM, requires significant coverage (about the film) in multiple independent reliable secondary sources. Dan arndt (talk) 01:27, 26 February 2024 (UTC)
Broken is a feature-length documentary film in production being produced by the Peabody Award winning production company LCMedia Productions and directed by Bill Lichtenstein. tells the story of the fatally flawed child protection, foster care, and juvenile court systems in Massachusetts -- and nationally.[1] The film follows the multi-year investigation of reporter Brooke Lewitas into the Massachusetts child protection, foster care, and family court systems - - set against child welfare nationally.[2] The film follows investigative reporter Brooke Lewitas as she reports this previously untold story, and is being distributed by PBS.[3]
Contrary to popular understanding, 64% of cases in which children are removed from their families by state child welfare systems not for abuse, but for neglect,[4] the blanket term that is frequently conflated with issues stemming directly from poverty such as the lack of food, child care, shelter, clothing, or health care.[5] Additionally, people of color and those with disabilities including mental health issues are disproportionately targeted for the removal of their children.[6]
The trailer for the film has already been invited to be shown at the 2023 Newburyport Documentary Film Festival[7] and the 2023 Social Impact Film Festival.[8] The film is in the public television pipeline for broadcast.[3]
