Carmel D. Morris
Carmel Duryea Morris is a British-Australian author [1] who has written over 33 books for children and young adults, including 5 worldwide bestsellers, released by publishers such as HarperCollins, Simon & Schuster and Scholastic, and translated into several languages. Many of her published books are held by the British Library, the Library of Congress and the National Library of Australia.
Carmel D. Morris wrote her first book at the age of 13 then received an invitation from Kyoto University to go there to accept an honourary doctorate in origami. Her parents refused permission to travel and to receive this rare honour. Her subsequent publications include a number of worldwide bestselling children's activities books such as the Best Paper Aircraft series. She went on to develop many 3D stereogram books and posters in the 1990s.
Carmel has also been a singer, composer [2], graphic designer, technical writer and software/hardware engineer. She sang in a heavy metal band at the age of 18 and later released two albums which are now available via streaming services.
A number of her older children's book titles have been re-released as e-books while some of her origami and paper plane books have again recently been republished in foreign language versions such as Papierflugzeuge Die besten Modelle aus aller Welt in Germany and three other recent titles in South Korea.
Carmel D. Morris also writes books in other genres under pseudonyms including George Gibson and Campbell Morris. She is a member of Origami Authors & Creators.
