Casey Scharf is an American documentary television producer best known as the creator and writer of the Peacock (streaming service) travel series Rainn Wilson and the Geography of Bliss.[1]

Career[edit]

Scharf has served as a producer on a variety of documentary television series, including Viceland's Emmy-nominated Vice World of Sports[2] and Starz's Warriors of Liberty City, executive produced by LeBron James and SpringHill Entertainment.[3]

In Spring 2019, Scharf secured the rights to Eric Weiner's New York Times Best-Selling book, The Geography of Bliss: One Grump's Search for the Happiest Places in the World.[4] After attaching comedian Rainn Wilson as host,[5] Scharf partnered with RadicalMedia to produce the five-part travel documentary series Rainn Wilson and the Geography of Bliss for NBC's Peacock streaming platform, and later for MSNBC.[6] The series was nominated for a Critics' Choice Television Award in 2023,[7] and won the Directors Guild of America Award in February 2024.[8]
