Many Celtic F.C. players and supporters have shown support for Palestine throughout the club's history.

History

In the late 2000s, Celtic would start waving Palestinian flags.^[1] Though, there has been support for Palestine before this in Celtic F.C. due to Catholic anti-Zionism and opinions of Israel held by Catholics.^[2]^[3]^[4]

In 2016, many Green Brigade members would be fined for the display of Pro-Palestine imagery when Celtic played against the Israeli football club, Hapoel Be'er Sheva.^[5]

Israel-Hamas War

After Hamas' attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, Celtic fans would start bringing Palestine flags to Celtic matches such as when Celtic F.C. played against Atlético Madrid in the 2023-24 UEFA Champions League in Celtic Park on October 25, 2023.^[6] This would result in the club banning flags and symbols relating to the Israel-Palestine conflict from Celtic Park and the ban of the Green Brigade from both away and home games.^[7]^[8] The ban would cause backlash many Celtic supporters including the Green Brigade themselves.^[9]

Charity

In 2016, Celtic fans would raise £175,000 pounds ($214,000 USD) to help fund the formation of Lajee Celtic football club, a football club in Aida, a refugee camp in Bethlehem.^[10]
