History
[edit]Chabad of Silver Spring was established in 1996 by Rabbi Berel Wolvovsky. It is part of the worldwide Chabad-Lubavitch movement, which aims to provide Jewish outreach and education. The center has grown significantly since its inception, leading to the construction of a new 6,000-square-foot facility at 519 Lamberton Drive, which opened in 2014.[1][2]
The center is an essential part of the Silver Spring Jewish community, particularly Kemp Mill.
Amid rising concerns for security in 2023, Chabad of Silver Spring, like many Jewish institutions in the area, has collaborated closely with local law enforcement to ensure the safety of its congregants and visitors.[3]
