Child Help Foundation (CHF) is a pan-India non-profit, non-governmental organization (NGO), registered under the Bombay Public Trust Act 1950, that commenced operations in the year 2010.[1]

The organization work towards the global development with our principal focus being children’s health and well-being. It has adopted twelve of the seventeen Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set up by the United Nations. These SDGs serve as a roadmap for the organization's initiatives and programs that aim to empower the disadvantaged, marginalized, and underprivileged. Throughout their course of history, Child Help Foundation has helped more than 3.3 million people all over India pertaining to education, health, medical support etc. and have worked in 26 states of India.[2] In 2023, Femina Miss India State Winners pledged to raise funds for Child Help Foundation. [3]

The journey of the Child Help Foundation began when three people, Sunil Varghese, Rajendra Pathak, and Jugender Singh [2]decided to come together to do something for the community and for enhancing the quality of life of children.

Initiatives[edit]

Emergency Medical Support[edit]

Child Help Foundation is committed to saving the lives of children from economically underprivileged families, suffering from congenital anomalies and non-communicable life-threatening diseases like cancer, inherent heart diseases, and organ failures.

Child Help Foundation’s primary focus is to extend support to provide these children with the best treatments possible.

Till date the organization has been successful in providing emergency medical support to 2,687+ children suffering from terminal illness.[4] With the help of BrihanMumbai Municipal Corporation, Child Help Foundation became a 'NikshayMitra', by serving nutritional kits to forty peaditric tuberculosis patients.[5]

Quality Education[edit]

Providing inclusive and quality education to children to make them future ready is one of the organization's fundamental focuses. The organization believes that children are the leaders of tomorrow, and it is important that they receive the best possible education. They also guide them to become informed, compassionate and good citizens. More than 4,71,958 children [2] across the country received an inclusive quality education through their Scholarship and Advocacy Program.

Water And Sanitation (WAS)[edit]

Child Help Foundation is helping in the “Swachh Bharat Mission” to promote the value of hygiene and sanitation to build a safer and cleaner  community for the people to live in. It is working at the forefront to build clean toilets in government schools, spread awareness about menstrual hygiene, provide clean and safe drinking water to people. Water and Saniation program has benefitted more than 93,093 people all over India.[2]

Gender equality[edit]

The Child Help Foundation is an avid supporter of the National Program - Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao.[6] The organization's educational programs are designed in such a way that they make difference by creating equal opportunities for all, and especially for the girl child. On International Women's Day 2023, Child Help Foundation distributed health and hygiene kits to 30 sweepers at Thane Railway station and sarees to 72 female sanitation workers at Haryana.[7]

Zero Hunger[edit]

Till November 2022, Child Help Foundation has served 17,83,657 meals.[2]

Humanitarian  Relief[edit]

Child Help Foundation has also been at the forefront in responding to the severe and heartbreaking damages caused by natural calamities.

During the devastation caused by multiple natural disasters in the country, like floods, droughts, earthquakes, and landslides, Child Help Foundation has reached out to more than 11,01,606[4] affected people from natural calamities to provide them with necessary help and relief across multiple states in India.

The organization has provided emergency ration kits, hygiene products, medicines, blankets , and whatever is the need at the moment. Child Help Foundation(CHF) volunteered for Odisha[8][9][10][11][12] and Uttarakhand Flood Relief by distributing emergency ration kits that reached around 2580 individuals and 430 families.

Child Help Foundation also conducted a session for Better Mental Health on 'World Suicide Prevention Day.'[13]

Village Development Program[edit]

To create opportunities for decent work and growth, Child Help Foundation works towards implementing initiatives for the development of the residents of the community. Child Help Foundation (CHF), has also supported and is consistently working for the initiative called ‘Village Development Program’ in Bhintghar (Gulabigaon[14]) Nashik, Maharashtra for the last couple of months, with the help of India Infoline Finance Limited (IIFL). [15] On World Humanitarian Day 2022, Child Help Foundation organised a 'No Plastic Drive' to reduce waste in Vasai. The organisation also conducted a paper bag making activity in Murbad Ashram School in Thane. [16]

Life On Land[edit]

The organization has fed up to 56,632 stray animals through its programmes.[2]

Life Below Water[edit]

Child Help Foundation’s volunteer driven initiative with partner NGO’s to carry out beach cleaning activities on multiple beaches across the country’s coastal regions.[17] Child Help Foundation has collected 6,91,790 kg of waste from the beach clean ups, which has saved the lives of 2,00,00,000 marine animals.[2]
