Chris McCaffrey also known as Críostóir Mac Cafraidh, (born 18 July 1995) is a public figure, actor, presenter, model, translator and former politician who is involved in media, Irish language and other cultural affairs.

A fluent Irish language speaker, he is known for his promotion of the language as well his various roles in television.

Background

Born in County Fermanagh, Chris has worked in television since the age of 17 and has taken part in numerous shows for broadcasters including BBC, RTÉ, ARTE, France 5 and Irish language channel TG4, working as an actor, presenter and contributor.

He also worked as a radio presenter with Irish language station Raidió Fáilte 107.1FM and a Translator during this time.

Political Career

He was elected at age 23 becoming the youngest member of local government in Ireland at that time, and he went on to serve as the Vice Chairman of the Council at age 25 during the COVID-19 lockdowns.

During his political career he focused on many issues such as poverty, education, access to medical services, animal cruelty, conflict resolution and the status of the Irish language / An Ghaeilge.

2023 to present

After 4 years in local government, Chris spent some time in New York and Miami and upon returning to Ireland in mid-October 2023 he resumed his career in media, working as a presenter closely with Pixelworx Agency in London as well as other production companies in Ireland.

He is currently working on history based docu-dramas as well as some travel shows.
