Clark Swanson is an American entrepreneur perhaps best known for being the Chief Executive Officer [1] of Blockcap, a bitcoin mining company that was acquired for $1.46 billion USD as part of a $4.3 billion dollar merger with Blackrock backed SPAC, XPDI. [2] He is also the co-founder of Halo Beauty, an indie beauty brand he founded with his former business partner, Tati Westbrook.[3] Swanson was born in Calgary, Alberta He graduated from Pepperdine University in Malibu, California with a degree in Economics, and later obtained a Masters in Business Administration from the Graziadio Business School.

Controversy

In 2020, Swanson filed a lawsuit against his former business partners, James and Tati Westbrook accusing the married couple of fraud, negligence, and breach of fiduciary duty. [4] After a protracted legal battle that lasted for nearly four years, the lawsuit was settled out of court with the Westbrooks leaving Halo Beauty.[5]

Blackline Safety

In 2008 Swanson became President and Director of Blackline Safety, a company specializing in atmospheric monitoring and work alone safety instrumentation for industrial and commercial work environments. [6] The company employs over 500 people with offices around the world. Swanson served the company in the roles of President, CEO, and Director over more than a decade.

Blockcap

Swanson has been known in the bitcoin community for having been a pioneer in large commercialization of the bitcoin mining space. Blockcap was mining with over 55,000 rigs and reached a unicorn status. In an interview by Swimsuit Illustrated, Swanson highlighted the risks and rewards of bitcoin mining and the crypto industry in general.[7]

Flavocure Biotech

Clark Swanson served as Vice Chairman for Flavocure Biotech, a company focused on drug research and development for cancers. In 2019, the company announced an investigational new drug study for the treatment of pancreatic cancer in collaboration with Harvard Medical School. [8]

Blockmetrix

As of 2024, Clark Swanson is the CEO of Blockmetrix [9], a bitcoin mining and high performance compute infrastructure company. Prior to Swanson's tenure with the company, they had raised $70 million, $50 million in equity capital and $20 million in debt.[10]
