Cleiton Ribeiro dos Santos (born May 31, 2000), known professionally as Clei Ribeiro, is a Brazilian singer, songwriter, comedian, and internet personality. He gained prominence with his single "Fire in the Water" and the viral video "Tá grossa ou não tá?".

Early life and career[edit]

Clei Ribeiro was born on May 31, 2000, in Jaboatão dos Guararapes, Pernambuco, Brazil. He revealed that he suffered from bullying for being gay since childhood and faced self-esteem issues during adolescence. Despite these challenges, Clei pursued his dream of becoming an internet personality. Initially shy, he shared in podcasts that he initially struggled with his newfound fame, but eventually grew accustomed to public opinion.

Clei began his social media presence in 2019 through Twitter, where he gained recognition in the Recife community. Throughout the 2020 pandemic, he expanded his popularity to Instagram and TikTok, known for his lip-sync videos and personal anecdotes.[1] Collaborating with artists such as Juliette, Virginia, Jade Picon, Kelly Key, and Gracyanne Barbosa, they dubbed Clei's videos, solidifying his relevance on the internet.

In 2022, Clei Ribeiro released his debut single "Fire in the Water," receiving significant recognition.[2] With over 200,000 streams,[3] the song blends Dark R&B and Soul, capturing the admiration of his audience. All of Clei's songs are composed and produced by himself.

On October 28, 2022, Clei released his first EP, "Darkness," exploring themes of depression and anxiety, reflecting on personal struggles and experiences.[4]

On July 8, 2021, Clei created and participated in the reality show "Gincana do Clei," which was well-received.[5]
