Cole Thomas "Coco" Brings Plenty (August 18, 1996, in Eagle Butte, South Dakota; April 5, 2024, in Edgerton, Kansas..[1][2]) was an American actor of indigenous descent.

Life

[edit]

Brings Plenty, a Lakota, was the son of Joni and Joseph Brings Plenty Sr., former police chiefs of the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe; his older brother Joseph is a law enforcement officer. He attended Cheyenne-Eagle Butte School until 2004 and graduated from high school in 2014, later studying media studies at Haskell Indian Nations University (HINU) in Lawrence[1][2][3].

He became known as "Pete Plenty Clouds", alongside Helen Mirren , Harrison Ford, and Cole Hauser, in the television series 1923 - a spin-off of the western series Yellowstone. His uncle Moses Brings Plenty had already appeared in Yellowstone . He also played in Into the Wild Frontier, Tall Tales of Jim Bridger and worked as a model.

Brings Plenty had been missing since March 31, 2024[4][5], following unconfirmed allegations of domestic violence[6][7], and was wanted by the Lawrence, Kansas, Police Department.

On April 2, Cole's neighbor went to Facebook and claimed that Cole strangled her[8][9][10][11][12][13]. Shortly after posting the complaint, the alleged victim made her page private after receiving threats from Cole's supporters accusing her of lying. Her family claims she has received terrible threats on social media, making her fearful for her safety. One poster, Jaiden, wrote, 'He was assaulted, (the alleged victim) cut his hair off, and retracted her statement, changed it and made comments on TikTok/FB then deleted them. Investigate her! #JusticeforCole.

According to a report by the Johnson County Sheriff's Office, his body was discovered on April 5, 2024[14][15], near his parked vehicle in a wooded area near Edgerton[16]; the circumstances of his death were not released at the request of the family, and following a judge's order on April 28, 2024, foul play was ruled out[17]. Brings Plenty was 27 years old and was laid to rest in the family cemetery in Red Scaffold[1][2][18][19]
