Draft:Colorex Trade and Hire

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Colorex was founded in the 1990s era by Ross Bishop of Crofton in Wellington, New Zealand. Origonaly it started out at 441a Hutt Rd in Lower Hutt, New Zealand selling Spray guns and Compressors to auto repair shops. In the Late 1990s Ross Bishop moved to Oahmaru in the south island of New Zealand. Ross employed Donald Winter to manage and run the shop in Lower Hutt.

Ross Bishop sold the bussiness in 2001 to Kelvin and Vernon Whiteman. Colorex now started selling consumables to the painter and decorator industry.

In 2005 Donlad Winter died of a heart attack. Colorex employed their first employee 2 weeks later. David WHiteman (son of Kelvin Witeman) started as a shop sales man.

They grew quickly and within 10 years had a thriving team of 12 staff. By now they had largely moved away form automotive repair supplies and were 95% in the painter decorator market.

in about 2015 they started catering fro all trades with PPE and height safety equipment. this has grown exponentialy in in the last 9 years to becoming a major part of their range.

In Late 2023 Colorex management decided to have a name change. this was to reflect where they are today and where they are heading.

Now after 20 years and 3 different locations they changed their name to Tradelands.
