"Colossus" is a song written and produced by American artist Tyler, the Creator, made for his second studio album Wolf (2013).[1] The song was released on April 1, 2013, a day before it's parent album was released.[2]

Story[edit]

Colossus is a diversion from the main story of Wolf, and, by extension, his mixtape Bastard and his debut studio album Goblin. The song follows Tyler, the Creator as himself dealing with fans at Six Flags (hence the name Colossus, as there was an attraction of the same name at the time of release).[3] The fans initially ask Tyler to take a picture with him, which Tyler reluctantly agrees to. One particular fan explains to Tyler about how big of a fan they are, including stating he intentionally made a scar with the letters "OF" with a glass shard, and that he wishes to hide Tyler in his basement. After a while, Tyler interrupts the fan, stating he appreciates how big of a fan he is, but claims he isn't gay. The fan then recalls a concert that they went to, admitting he has a "boycrush" on Tyler, which he responds with, "Just take this fucking picture man, shit."

Reception[edit]

The song was met with generally positive reviews,[4] with the song named among the best of his discography by some.[5] Many people noted that the song is quite similar to Stan by Eminem, and Tyler responded on Twitter, stating he never meant to copy the song.[6]
