The combuitar is a chordophone instrument, similar to the guitar. The original model consists of 18 strings and three necks. The inspiration for the instrument stems from Roy Williamson, a Scottish folk legend. Benny Tetteh-Lartey, the creator of the combuitar, has confirmed this, stating these exact words: “Roy Williamson is one of my heroes, mainly because he was a fantastic musician who also made his own instruments. I’ve always loved the sound of his combolin and I thought I’d have a go at my own version.”
