Conrad Setó is the artistic name by which Josep Conrad Setó Martínez is known. (born in Montblanch, Tarragona, April 21, 1958), Spanish pianist, acordeonist and composer.
Artistic trajectory[edit]
He studied at the Municipal Conservatory of Barcelona and the Liceu of Barcelona. In 1976 he began his activity as a professional musician and founded the contemporary chamber music group Tanit, participating as a pianist in various instrumental ensembles. He has participated in 250 recordings, seventeen with his own music in its entirety. Commentator and music critic for the publications "Stereo-play" and "Voice". In 1983 he performed his first interdisciplinary show at the Festival Grec 1983 in Barcelona with the work "Impressions Cromàtiques". He was awarded by the Generalitat de Catalunya for the best record edition (1986) for his double LP "Joc de dames". He has been artistic director of "Edicions Nova Era" (1989–1992). Founder of groups such as "Edició especial", "Solstici", "Etérea", "1'27 Connexió" and "1'27 Connexió"..
As a composer, his production is very extensive, more than 2100 works for almost all symphonic orchestral instruments as well as traditional Catalan instruments. Setó has been artistic director of "Grabacions marines" (2013–2017). Co-founder of "R-21 músic". Founding member of the Tarragona composers collective "Mikrokosmos" (1998). Teacher and composer in residence at the AMTP (1998–2013). He has collaborated as arranger and instrumentalist with musicians such as Lluís Llach, Jordi Sabatés, Rafael Subirachs, Quico Pi de la Serra, Toti Soler, Núria Feliu, Marina Rossell, Ovidi Montllor, Laura Simó (Laura Simó & Conrad Setó Sound), Francesc Burrull, Joan Isaac, Ramon Muntaner or Miquel Pujadó, among others.
