De'Janae Boykin (born May 4, 1997) is a former American basketball player who college basketball at UConn, Penn State, and West Virginia University. before attending college Boykin also played on 3 USA Basketball teams including the Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing China that all won the gold medal.

Early life

De'Janae hails from Springdale, Maryland. her freshman year of high school she attended Riverdale Baptist School in Upper Marlboro where the team won two National high school tournaments, the National Association of Christian Athletics(NACA) National Tournament (2012), and the ESPN National High School invitational National Tournament(NHSI) in 2012. she transferred to her local public school Charles Herbert Flowers high school for her sophomore year after being ask by her visually impaired brother if she would go to CH Flowers HS with him so that he could feel more comfortable being in a big school with his disability. While at Charles Herbert Flowers High School De'Janae was one of 36 high school players from around the country to receive an invite to tryout for the USA Basketball U16 National Team in 2013 that would play in the Fiba Americas International Tournament in Cancun Mexico in the summer of 2013, De'Janae was one of 12 players selected for the team out of a total of 121 high school girls basketball players that came to the tryouts at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs CO including the 36 that received national invites, the team went on to win the gold medal by defeating Canada in the Championship game. After her junior year at Charles Herbert Flowers she was named the Gatorade Player of the Year for the State of Maryland, she also was one of 36 players from around the country to receive an invite to tryout for the USA Basketball U17 National Team in 2014 that would play in the U17 World Championship for women in the Czech Republic in the summer of 2014, again De'Janae was one of 12 selected to the team out of 112 that came to the tryouts at the Olympic Training Center, the team would go on the win the Gold Medal by beating Spain in the championship game. De'Janae would be selected by USA Basketball along with Arike Ogunbowale, Katie Lou Samuelson and Napheesa Collier to be apart of the 2014 National U18 3x3 Basketball team that would go on to play in the 2014 Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing China in August 2014, the team would go on to win the very first gold medal for the USA in the U18 3x3 Basketball at the Youth Olympics. After her senior year De'Janae was named a McDonald's All American, a McDonald's All American Player of the Year Finalist, she was named to the very first Jordan Brand All American Girls Team, WBCA and Naismith All American. Recruiting

De'Janae was ranked as high as the #1 ranked player by Bluestar report and by ESPN. she finished high school as a top 10 ranked player by most scouting services. She was a highly-sought player as a five-star recruit in the 2015 class and received over 30 scholarship offers she was recruited by all the top college programs including Louisville, UConn, Tenn, UNC, UVA, Kentucky, WVU, Penn St. she chose to accept a scholarship offer from UConn where she would be teammates with Katie Lou Samuelson, Napheesa Collier and Breanna Stewart, before transferring to Penn St.

De'Janae's College career started off with injuries and the injuries hampered she career, she was able to play in a total of 36 college basketball games while at Penn St, in her first ever college game at Penn St she came off the bench against American University and help lead the team to a win while scoring 10 points and 5 rebounds, in the very next games she came off the bench to score 12 points and 9 rebounds, then she was hit with another injury to her foot that limited she play effectiveness that would require season ending surgery, so after 6 games she had surgery. the next season she returned and played all but 2 games because of concussion protocol. she entered the Penn St record books with a 14 point 19 rebounds effort against Drexel University. After that season she transferred to West Virginia University, while at WVU she had to sit out the season do to transfer rules, the follwing season while preparing for the season she was notified that she needed another foot surgery and that she would miss the season, then when that season ended Covid hit the world and everything shut down. she was then notified during the pandemic that she would not be brought back for a 6th year.
