2007[edit]

Following the events of "The Life and Death of Jeremy Bentham", Locke confronts Ben after being suddenly revived. After the initial shock Ben talks about being judged by the monster. Upon leaving the office they were in, Ben convinces Caesar that Locke is from the island and is probably crazy for saying that he died. Once meeting up with Locke again, he asks why he was killed, which was to be brought back to the island. Locke decides to help let him get judged by the monster. Needing the boat to get back to the main island, Ben kills Caesar, who refused to let them use it after seeing him suddenly siding with Locke. Once on the main island, Locke realizes that Ben wants to be judged as he felt responsible for his daughters death.

Once they arrive at Ben's house, they notice Sun Kwon (Yunjin Kim) and Frank Lapidus (Jeff Fahey) at his house. She mentions she sees the others she came back with in an old Dharma picture, which Ben doesn't recognize. Once meeting up with Locke, Sun agrees to come with them as Locke mentioned she can meet with her husband once again, however Lapidus is skeptical and goes on his own. Afterwards, Ben goes back into his house to summon the monster for judgement. However, it does not show up. Locke mentions that he knows where it is, and takes them to the temple. Ben tells Sun to stay behind, and to tell Desmond that he's sorry. Once at the temple, Locke says to go down through a hole. Once down, he goes on his own where the floor suddenly collapses. After the collapse, Ben finds him in a mysterious room with Egyptian hieroglyphics where the monster appears. It shows him visions from his past and then has his daughter Alex appear in front of him, where she says to follow Locke no matter what. Meanwhile, Lapidus is alerted that Ilana and the other passengers have guns and believe they're in charge. They ask him "what lies in the shadow of the statue," and after not knowing how to respond, they take him captive.
