Draft:Devon Lee Carlson

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
  • Comment: @DoubleGrazing: My love of influencer 'culture' is not great, but if we want to be taken seriously by people who are, say, under 20 (25, 30?), we might be wise to give people like this a bit more attention. Devon Lee Carlson is – in some circles – hugely famous (for what exactly, I struggle to understand, but it seems to be a fact). I had never heard of her until a 20-somthing I met mentioned her (and was gobsmacked that I had never heard of her). Look her up (I just did). She's not going away, so maybe we ought to help this article over the line. Cheers, Cl3phact0 (talk) 14:39, 19 October 2023 (UTC)
  • Comment: The sources look impressive, but boil down to interviews and churnalism, as one might expect from an 'influencer'. The subject may yet prove notable, but I cannot conclude that based on these sources. What's worse, this draft contains very little of encyclopaedic value, consisting mainly of celeb gossip and name-dropping. As such, I feel this would be an A7/G11 speedy candidate, if accepted. Devon Lee Carlson (born August 3, 1994)[1] is a model, entrepreneur and influencer.[2] She is known for co-founding phone case company Wildlower Cases, and is one of the more prominent it girls of the early 2020s.[3][4]

Early life[edit]

Carlson was born in Southern California.[5] She was a competitive dancer from the age of 4 to 18.[3] After graduating high school, she attended community college for a semester before dropping out to focus on Wildflower Cases.[6][7]

Career[edit]

Carlson co-created and co-owns the phone case company Wildflower Cases along with her mother, Michelle Carlson and sister, Sydney Carlson.[8] The company gained popularity after being publicised in a tweet by Miley Cyrus in 2012.[9]

In 2021, Carlson partnered with Marc Jacobs to design a capsule collection for his 2000s inspired brand, Heaven by Marc Jacobs.[3][10] A dress from this collection was worn by Alexa Demie's character, Maddy Perez, in the 4th episode of the 2nd season of American TV series Euphoria.[11]

In 2023 she and English singer Sam Smith featured in a Charli XCX video of the song Speed Drive.[12]

According to Forbes magazine's Top Creators Fashion 50 list, she had over 2.5 million social media followers as of October 2023.[13]

Personal life[edit]

Carlson was in a relationship with The Neighbourhood lead singer Jesse Rutherford until 2021. They were elected "2019's most 2019 couple" by GQ.[14]

As of 2022, she is in a relationship with Jack Nicholson's grandson Duke Nicholson.[15] He is known for appearing on Lana del Rey's "Norman Fucking Rockwell" album cover.[16] She is the older sister of Sydney Carlson.[17][6]
