Domenico Italo Composto-Hart (born February 1977) is an American educator and writer of books and short stories in the genres of science fiction, fantasy,[1] and travel literature.[2] Born in Chicago, Illinois, he has been living in Barcelona, Spain, since 2006.[3] In 2024, he was shortlisted in the Best Use of Technology category for the Tes Awards (TES magazine) for International Schools.[4]

Life[edit]

Born in February 1977 in Chicago, Illinois, he attended New Trier High School,[5] where he pursued music and percussion through the school's three music ensembles: wind ensemble, string ensemble, and jazz ensemble. He graduated from New Trier in 1995.

He studied at Boston University and graduated in 1999 with honors (magna cum laude) with a B.A. in anthropology and a B.A. in archaeology.[6] While at Boston University, he worked as an intern and then full-time for the Archaeological Institute of America.[7]

In 2000, Domenico moved to Tokyo, Japan, to pursue a career as a freelance musician until 2004. During his time in Japan that he completed the first draft of Dark Legacy: Book I - Trinity,[8] which was published in 2011 under the imprint Dragon Bone Books.

He traveled from March to August of 2004 throughout East Asia, Southeast Asia, Siberia, Central Russia, the Baltic states, the Nordic countries, and Eastern and Western Europe, as documented in his travel memoir Travels in the Land of Hunger: A backpacker's earthbound journey from the East to the West. While traveling in Asia, he met his wife, María del Carmen Bello Jordan,[9] at the top of Ta Keo in Angkor, Cambodia.[10]

He currently teaches economics for the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme at the Benjamin Franklin International School in Barcelona, Spain.[11]

In September 2020, he began providing educational video tutorials focused on IBDP Economic content on YouTube.[12]

Awards[edit]

In 2024, Domenico was shortlisted in the Best Use of Technology category for the Tes Awards (TES magazine) for International Schools.[13] The nomination recognized his dedication to education in founding and building his IBDP Economics YouTube channel, EZ NOMICS: https://www.youtube.com/@EZNOMICS, as a free online learning resource for all students worldwide.
