Draft:Dragiša Kovačević (Chetnik)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Dragiša Kovačević (Serbian Cyrillic: Драгиша Ковачевић) was Serbian voivode in the Macedonian Struggle for liberation from Turkish oppression.

Kovačević showing the highest level of bravery in battle, witnessed by those who survived it and who tell that in the machine-gun division of the 13th Battalion led by Dragiša Kovačević who led his men in the late hours of the night to reach and attack Šašine was the bravest act that they could imagine. Even though he lost the conflict and had to surrender the damage that was done to the enemy was admired by the enemy command. That took place in World War I.

Before the great War, Dragiša showed exceptional courage as a guerrilla fighter in the early days of the Macedonian Struggle. He was held only by Koziak when the Turkish army came to capture him and failed many times over. Another voivode Đorđe Skopljanče, who did not visit his area - Palanačka kaza -- yet after a few days from arriving he came into conflict with the Turks and that was due to his carelessness - because he could have avoided the conflict.
