The effects of the 2020 Pacific typhoon season in the Philippines were considered record-breaking[by whom?] in terms of damages and impact. Despite the season being less active and late-starting than usual, a total of 21 storms entered or formed within the Philippine Area of Responsibility, 7 of which reached typhoon status, and 6 making landfall on or forming directly above the Philippines.
