Elani Dekker is a South African actress, illustrator, and dancer. She was nominated for a SAFTA for her performance in the film Toorbos (2019),[1][2] an adaptation of the novel by Dalene Matthee.[3] Her other films include Jou Romeo (2016), Liewe Lisa (2019), and Silverton Siege (2022).

Early life and education[edit]

Dekker was born in Pretoria. She attended an Afrikaans school.[4] On a scholarship, she took the summer Acting on Film course at the New York Film Academy (NYFA) in July 2015. She trained in ballet. She worked as a production manager on the set of the film Sink.[5][6] In 2021, Dekker obtained a diploma from the Interior Design Institute.

Career[edit]

Dekker had her first solo exhibition in February 2021, and her second Wild in September 2021. She joined the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI).[7]

Personal life[edit]

As of 2020, Dekker lives in Robindale, a suburb of Randburg.[8]
