Emem Nnanna Usoro is a Deputy Governor in charge of Operations at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).[1]. She was appointed by President Ahmed Bola Tinubu on September 15, 2023 and assumed duty on 5th October, 2023[2]. Emem has oversight of banking, currency, branch operations, information technology and reserve management. Prior to joining the Management team of CBN, she was Executive Director, North, at the United Bank of Africa (UBA) and has experience in retail, commercial, public sector and corporate banking[3][4].

She holds a Bachelors in Biochemistry from the University of Uyo and a Masters in Business Administration from the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ife. She is also an alumnus of Havard Business School, Lagos Business School and University of South Africa, Pretoria where she attended Executive Education programmes in Leadership, Management, Marketing, and Senior Management at various times. Emem is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria[5][6][7]

Emem Usoro served as an Executive Director within the North Bank directorate of the United Bank for Africa (UBA).[8]. She was in charge of 151 branches across the North of Nigeria. Prior to joining UBA, she had worked for Bank PHB now Keystone Bank. She was in charge of commercial business development and later Regional Director overseeing 32 branches in the Lagos Island Region[5]. Emem was profiled by BUSINESS DAY in August, 2023 on her role at the helm in UBA, navigating the complexities of supply chain disruptions and its implications for her bank both during COVID-19 lockdown and the current Russia-Ukraine War[8]
