Gill was raised by Carol and Martin Farrar in Salford, England.

She studied Law at the Victoria University of Manchester [1] graduating in the top 10% of her class in 2001 whilst working in high street retail to support herself. She was deputy editor of the Manchester University Law Society magazine and won the RG Lawson Prize for Conflicts of Law in her third year.

She completed her post graduate qualification at the College of Law at Chester (as was).

Gill qualified as a solicitor in 2005 having spent some time as a paralegal in a niche practice in Salford and the St Helens office of regional firm Stephenson's. She trained with national firm Layton's rising from NQ to equity partner by 2013.

Gill sought out a new challenge in 2016, after returning from the birth of her daughter and opened the Manchester office of Vardags in June 2016.

Gill married her husband, Richard, who is director of a property company, in 2006 and they share one child.

PRESS & PUBLICATIONS[edit]

Emma is very experienced in handling the press. Gill is often called upon to give expert commentary on television, radio and in the national press. Most recently she has appeared on BBC Breakfast and Victoria Derbyshire and provided comment featured in The Times, The Guardian and The Financial Times. She has also consulted on family law issues for a BBC One drama.

She speaks on a wide range of issues including divorce reform, financial issues on separation, the northern powerhouse and autism
