Common Environmental Degradation and their dangers to people of South Sudan [11][edit]

Deforestation: [12]The clearing of forest for agriculture, logging, and fuel wood has let to Signiant deforestation in south Sudan. this has resulted in lose of biodiversity, soil erosion, and reduced water quality for human and animal utilization.

Soil degradation: Unsustainable agricultural practices such as over crazing and improper land management, have led to soil degradation in south Sudan. this has resulted in reduced soil fertility, erosion, and desertification.

Water pollution. Pollution from agricultural run off, mining activities, and inadequate waste management has led to water pollution in south Sudan. these has affected the quality of drinking water and aquatic ecosystems.

Air pollution: the burning of biomass for cooking and heating, as well as emissions from vehicles and industries has led to air pollution in south Sudan. these are negatives on human health and the environment.

Wildlife Poaching and trafficking: Illegal hunting and trafficking of wild life's for bush meat, ivory, and other products has led to a decline in wildlife populations in south Sudan. This has disrupted ecosystems and threatened endangered species.

Climate Change: [13] South Sudan is Vulnerable to the impacts of climate change, including increase temperatures [14], changing rainfall patterns and more frequent extreme weather events. these changes can have negative impact on agriculture, water resources and human health.

Oil Pollution the oil industry in south Sudan has led to pollution of land and water resources through spills, leaks, and improper waste dispersal. this has had negative impacts on local communities and ecosystems. [15]

How the negatives impacts of environmental degradation affects human rights in south Sudan [16][edit]

Environmental degradation in south Sudan has a significant impact on human rights in the country. some of the negatives impacts include;

Access to clean water: Environmental degradation such as deforestation and pollution, can lead to a scarcity of clean water sources. this can result in communities being unable to access safe drinking water, which is a basic human right.

Food security: Environmental degradation can also affect agricultural productivity, leading to food insecurity. this can results in malnutrition and hunger which are violations of the rights to food[17].

Health impacts: Pollution and environmental degradation can lead to health problem such as respiratory diseases, [18] skin infections, and other illnesses. this can violate the rights to health of individuals in south Sudan

Displacement: Environmental degradation can also lead to displacement of communities as they are forced to leave their homes due to natural disasters such as floods or droughts. this can results in violations of the rights to housing and the rights to safe and secure environment.

Conflict: Environmental degradation ca also exacerbate existing conflicts in south Sudan, as competition for scare resources such as water and land increases. this can lead to further violations to human right s as communities are forced to fights for survivals.

Overall environment degradation in south Sudan has a significant impact on human rights, affecting access to clean water, food security, health, displacement and conflict. Its important for the government of south Sudan and international community to address issues in order to protect the rights of individuals in the country as to avoid dangerous natural disasters that happen due to environmental misuse.
