Eugeniusz Skowron (1927 - 2005) was a Polish engineer known for his significant contributions to engineering education and industry.
Early Life and Education[edit]
Eugeniusz Skowron was born in 1927 in Bobrówka near Dębica. He pursued engineering with a humanitarian inclination, completing his studies at PWKP in Wrocław, followed by further education at Wrocław Polytechnic, where he received his master's degree. He also undertook postgraduate studies at Kraków Polytechnic.
Career[edit]
Skowron began his professional career at the Mechanical Plant in Kluczbork. He later moved to industry, working at WSK-PZL Wrocław as a design engineer before transferring to WSK-Dębica (now PZL-Dębica S.A.). At PZL-Dębica, he continued to work as a constructor, specialist, and lecturer. Additionally, he served as a lecturer at the Wrocław Electric, Technical, and Construction High School and the Wrocław Polytechnic.
Contributions and Recognitions[edit]
Eugeniusz Skowron was actively involved in several professional organizations, including SIMP, NOT, and SNT. He served as the Main Inspector of the Consulting Point of the Polytechnic in Wrocław, Kraków from 1963 to 1973, and in Rzeszów from 1967 to 1969, overseeing 35 engineers.
In recognition of his contributions, Skowron was awarded a gold medal in 1976, an honorary distinction by SEP, and a PRZ award in 1980. He was also named "Meritorious for SEP."
Publications and Innovations[edit]
Skowron was the author or co-author of several monographs, over 45 articles published in scientific journals, and 30 reports presented at national and international scientific conferences. He authored Polish Standards and edited four books. As a certified SIMP reviewer, he evaluated the achievements of Polish engineers applying for the title of specialist or certified expert.
Skowron wrote his most notable book, titled Dębica w Karpackiej Brygadzie Legionów, which describes the heroic actions of school students from Dębica fighting in the resistance during World War II.
Patents and Awards[edit]
He held several patents and introduced numerous technical innovations and utilities, primarily in the field of machine construction and quality control, for which he received various awards and distinctions.
Personal Life[edit]
In his youth, Skowron actively participated in the resistance movement and served as a soldier in the AK (Home Army) during World War II. He was married to Izabela Jaklewicz, with whom he had two sons, Witold and Andrzej. Witold dedicated his life to veterinary medicine, and Andrzej became the CEO of Polskie Składy Oponiarskie. After the death of his first wife, he married Hanna Skowron, with whom he had one daughter, Małgorzata, a medical doctor.
