Draft:Eylín (name)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Eylín (Icelandic pronunciation: [ejlin], EYE-leen) is an Icelandic female given name. It is a variation of the Turkish name Aylin (also spelled as Aelyn, Aelin, Ailyn, Ailyn, Aylinn). The name carries the meaning of; "moon halo" or, "The one who belongs to the moon". Other related names are Ailin, Ayla, Aileen, Eileen, Ayleen.

Similarly to Eileen, the name Eylín could also be the anglicised form of Eibhlín, an Irish version of the Norman French name Aveline, which means "hazelnut". The name Eileen has been featured in classic Irish songs[1][2] and it is related to the English name Evelyn and its variant Aileen.
