Faranak Shahroozi (born on 22 January 1966) is an Iranian-American composer and pianist. She is known for her lyrical, romantic, and emotionally captivating melodies, drawing comparisons to renowned composers such as Francis Lai (Love Story) and Nino Rota (The Godfather).[1][2][3]
Early life and education
[edit]Faranak Shahroozi was born on 22 January 1966 in Abadan, Iran. Her passion for music started at the age of 5 when her parents hired a private tutor to teach her basic musical notes and theory. Following the revolution of 1979, her world changed forever. Due to the Iran-Iraq War of 1980, Faranak and her parents moved from Abadan to Tehran.[4]
In 1984, she moved to the United States, where she pursued her passion for music and received her B.A. in Classical Music from San Jose State University. The dramatic changes in her life influenced her musical abilities, leading to a series of compositions that captured the attention of producer Preston Glass. By the late 1990s, Faranak became a prominent figure in Napa Valley's music scene, where she lived and performed for many years.
Career
[edit]Faranak collaborated with artists such as Lenny Williams and Syreeta Wright (Stevie Wonder's wife), and received endorsements from the legendary winemaker Robert Mondavi.[5] Her first album, "La Musica De La Vigna," was produced by Preston Glass.[6]
Her second album, "Eternal Love," was produced by Adam Ivy and released in 2012.[7] Faranak’s music has been featured in Hollywood films including Playing the Crease and Down’n Dirty, starring Gary Busey, as well as the miniseries Two Degrees. During the pandemic, she signed with Symphonic Distribution and released her third album, "Circles Of My Mind."[8]
Faranak is currently working on the soundtrack for the true story of Kidnapping of Asad Qureshi’s 165 Days.[9] She is also collaborating with various artists on her fourth album. In early 2022, she signed an exclusive recording contract with London's iconic Red Bus Studios. Faranak’s music streams on platforms like Spotify,[10] Apple Music,[11] SoundCloud,[12] Amazon Music,[13] and Deezer.[14]
