Fernando Estimé is a Haitian political scientist, diplomat, media presenter and influencer, born in Gonaives, department of Artibonite in Haiti .

Biography

Fernando Estimé graduated in political science from INAGHEI. He is also a specialist in economic diplomacy and trade policy. Since 2012, he has been director of research at LIDGA. Estimé has training in international security related to non-proliferation and nuclear disarmament from the Instituto Matias Romero de Estudios Diplomaticos of the SRE of Mexico.[1]

Political and diplomatic career

Fernando Estimé was an official of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry and was also spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Haiti from November 2014 to October 2015. I worked as a consultant on behalf of different Haitian and foreign institutions. Fernando Estimé is the Chairman of the ESTIME Group family holding company and Vice President of ESTIMÉ Properties.[2] He was also a professor at the Center for Diplomatic and International Studies (CEDI) in Port-au-Prince.

In 2018, contacted by La Presse on the migratory phenomenon of Haiti, he related "that it is not surprising to have seen several Haitian migrants illegally enter Canada since last summer. The beneficiaries of temporary status are ready to bet big to avoid their return to Haiti"..[3]

He presented the programs Sans Frontières and Espace International, on Radio Télévision Caraibes, Channel 22 (RTVC), as well as on Radio Télévision Espace 94.1 FM, with the aim of democratizing international relations in Haiti, through " cutting-edge analyzes based on the dissemination of a new understanding of international politics. He then created and hosted the television section "Géofoot", RTVC during the last 2018 Football World Cup. In 2021 he reached the mark of one million subscribers on Facebook[4] · .[5] According to the daily Le Nouvelliste, "Fernando Estimé is one of the most followed public figures on Facebook in Haiti".[6]

Fernando Estimé shows himself to be passionate about sport. His presence was very noticed in the stadiums during the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, with jerseys and shorts in the colors of Haiti, he attracted curiosity major media in Australia and social networks. The directors of Haiti's different matches, particularly against Denmark, focused on him.[7] He is a supporter of the Haitian team, very remarkable in meetings whether at the male and female level, displaying the colors of the Haitian flag.[8]

Honors

During a ceremony organized on December 15, 2021 in Boston, in the United States of America, he received the "Emerging Minds of Haiti 2018" prize for having made intelligible international relations in Haiti. This prize was awarded to him by the organization "Emerging Minds of Haiti" whose name the prize also bears alongside the activist and community organizer, also journalist and radio host, Guerlyne Petit, and the comedian Jean Ronald Laplante and trumpeter Carlot Dorvé. During the ceremony, Fernando Estimé was the first among the recipients to calmly address the audience, through a talk focused on diplomacy. The international relations consultant, addressing the audience, in his speech brings a message carrying a glimmer of hope and renewal[10] · [11]

In 2019, a special "Distinguished Conduct" distinction was awarded to Fernando Estimé who was invited to deliver an appropriate message in the "Fundraising" gala evening of the "Unissons-nous Pour l'Avancement de Desdunes" association (UPAD).[12]
