Fish and Crowns is a Christian band hailing from Clarksburg, WV[1]. The band was formed in 2016 by the 3 original members. Fish and Crowns musical style is contemporary, playing both original music and covers. The band primarily plays in churches but also can be found at festivals and other events near their hometown.
How it Started[edit]
The band members started playing together in 2012, meeting first in a local church worship team. After moving to different churches, They decided to continue getting together without much sense of what they planned to do. They started meeting at a church in Clarksburg, WV a few times a month. Over the next few years, they worked on music, made some in house recordings, and began playing events.
Fish and Crowns Worship Center[edit]
In 2021 The church we had been meeting at, Golden Harvest Ministries, was given to Fish and Crowns. Built in the very early 1900’s as a Lutheran church, The Fish and Crowns Worship Center has seen a lot over the years. A number of churches have called this building home. In 2004, The building was purchased and a new church was established, Golden Harvest Ministries. Many improvements were made to the building during that time.[2]
Several years later the “church” known as Golden Harvest Ministries dissolved, but the ministry and building remained. In 2021, Golden Harvest Ministries began a new venture, known as Fish and Crowns Ministries, which gave way to The Fish and Crowns Worship Center.
History of the Worship Center[edit]
”In 1904 the Reverend T. B. Yeakley, missionary superintendent of the Allegheny Conference of the Lutheran Synod of Maryland, organized a church of thirty-five members who met in Smith Hall on the corner of Main and Second streets in Clarksburg. When a regular minister arrived in 1906, the congregation built a modest chapel on the corner of Meigs and Park avenues. On January 1, 1914, the cornerstone for the brick structure, to be built on the same site as that where the chapel had stood, was laid. The church was dedicated September 27, 1914. In 1962, the Lutheran congregation purchased the "Cork" property south of Clarksburg at the junction of Route 19 and the Davisson Run Road…”[3]
