The Five Nights at Freddy's timeline is a very controversial subject due to the fact that nobody really agrees on when everything fits in. The reason that nobody really agrees is because it is theorized that Scott Cawthon did not intend on all of the games being part of one timeline, and the reason people think that is because in an interview with Scott Cawthon he stated that the first 3 games were meant to be a timeline/story and the first 4 games were meant to be another separate timeline/story. There are now way more games then there were when he did that interview, but more than a few of those games were not made by Scott, and were instead made by the company who he sold the FNAF brand to in order to have some more time with his family, and so the fans could still play new FNAF games.

In this first theorized timeline Gregory Afton (William Afton's son) would have been a security guard at Freddy's Pizzeria.
