Flash Before the Bang is an upcoming American sports drama film directed by Jevon Whetter from a screenplay by Whetter. It is about a deaf track and field team from Oregon in the 1980s. The film stars Jessica Alba (also serves as an executive producer), Russell Harvard, Daniel Durant. It is being produced by Exodus Film Group, Aloe Entertainment, FitzHenry Films, TruJuLo Productions, Lady Spitfire, Inside Track and Artists Equity.
Synopsis
[edit]Inspired by a true story of an all-deaf high school track and field team in Oregon, preparing for the 1986 Oregon State Track and Field Championship.[1]

[edit]The film was revealed in 2021 with Troy Kotsur, Nyle DiMarco and Deanne Bray attached to star with production from Pearl Street Films and Exodus Film Group and Matt Damon and Ben Affleck as executive producers.[2][3]
The producers announced in May 2023 with new cast members Daniel Durant, Russell Harvard and Jessica Alba. The film also include John D. Eraklis from Exodus Film Group, Mary Aloe of Aloe Entertainment, and Tiffany FitzHenry of FitzHenry Films. The writer/director Jevon Whetter is telling his true experience from the 1986 Oregon state championship, whilst his younger brother Delbert Whetter is also producing.
Executive producers are now include Fanshen Cox in association with Trujulo Productions.[4] Alba is also an executive producer through its Lady Spitfire banner, which was launched in February 2024.[5]
Filming
[edit]Principal photography is scheduled to begin in March 2024, in Oregon and Washington.[6][7]
