  1. ^ a b c The history of the Military Academy (AKMIL) begins with the establishment of the Yogyakarta Militaire Academie (MA) on October 31 1945, on the orders of the Chief of General Staff of the People's Security Army, Lieutenant General TNI Oerip Soemohardjo. In 1950. On January 1, 1951 in Bandung, SPGi AD (Sekolah Perwira Genie Angkatan Darat) was founded, On September 23 1956 the name changed to ATEKAD (Akademi Teknik Angkatan Darat). On 11 November 1957 at 11.00 the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Ir Soekarno, as Supreme Commander of the Indonesian Armed Forces, inaugurated the reopening of the National Military Academy located in Magelang. This Military Academy is a continuation of the Yogyakarta MA and the cadets entered in 1957 were declared the 4th class of AMN (Akademi Maritim Nusantara) Cadets. In 1961 the Magelang National Military Academy was integrated with ATEKAD Bandung under the name Akademi Militer Nasional and was based in Magelang. Considering that at that time each force (AD, AL, AU and Polri) had an academy, on December 16 1965 all force academies were integrated into the Republic of Indonesia Armed Forces Academy (AKABRI). In the context of reorganization within ABRI, on June 14 1984 the AKABRI changed its name to AKMIL (Akademi Militer).
