GPRC[1] is an acronym for Governance, Performance, Risk and Compliance.[2] It was introduced by Owe Lie-Bjelland, Director of GPRC Program Management at Corporater, in a blog post,[3] and since emphasized in his writings on the Performance - GRC equilibrium,[4][5] and featured as a topic in management events.[6][7] According to the GPRC Summit, GPRC stands for GRC (Governance, Risk and Compliance) integrated with Performance and Strategy.[8]
GPRC Summit[edit]
The inaugural series of the GPRC Summit were held on January 23, 2023, and January 25, 2023, at Riyadh, KSA[9] and Dubai, UAE[10] respectively. Dr. Sultan Saud Alsajjan, General Manager, Governance and Compliance, Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing inaugurated the event in Riyadh[11] and H.E. Dr. Mohamed Al Kuwaiti, Head of Cybersecurity, UAE Government in Dubai, UAE.[12] H.E. Thomas Lid Ball, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Norway to Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Oman and Yemen, Royal Norwegian Embassy, KSA, was present at the Riyadh event,[13] and H.E. Abdallah Al Shamsi, Assistant Undersecretary, Monitoring and Follow-up at the Ministry of Economy attended the Dubai event.[14] The summit was supported by the UAE Cyber Security Council and UAE Banks Federation.[15]
At the summit, GPRC was discussed as the future of effective enterprise management for government and business organizations, and defined as a framework for governance, management, and assurance of a company's performance, risk, and compliance.[16] The summit keynote speakers included Michael Rasmussen from GRC 20/20 Research, Peter Sondergaard, Founder of Sondergaard Group and a former EVP at Gartner Research, and Tor Inge Vasshus, Founder and CEO of Corporater[7].[17]
Among the panelists in Riyadh were A. Ayoub Abdulrahman Al-Dakael, Director of Risk Management, Saudi Government, KSA, Hassan Al Amri, GM - Risk Management & BCM, Mobily, KSA, Marc Haberland, Founder & CEO, Clariba, Abdulaziz Al-Ateeq, Group Head of Corporate Risk Management, Business Continuity & Fraud Risk Management, ACWA Power, and Suhaib Al-Hosainy, Chief Risk Officer, SaudiEXIM Bank.[18]; and in Dubai were Ali Mohammed Khalifa Almuwaijei, Vice President - Governance & Compliance, Dubai Electricity & Water Authority; Hussein Shafik Bahgat, Chief Information Security and Privacy Officer, Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB); Khurram Sabir, Chief Internal Auditor and Chief Risk Officer, General Pension and Social Security Authority, UAE, Marc Haberland, Founder & CEO, Clariba, Sherwyn Rodricks,[19] VP Corporate Risk and BCM, Daman National Health Insurance Company and, Matthew Nobles, Chief Compliance Officer, MEA for GE Gas Power[17]
The GPRC Summit scheduled for 2024 is set to take place in Riyadh on January 24-25, 2024,[20] and in Dubai on January 29-30, 2024.[21] The focus of this event will around the theme of "Strategic Road to Business Resilience and Superior Performance in AI-powered Future."[22]
