Green TV Entertainment is a Pakistani television channel officially launched on July 10, 2023, following a test transmission that started on April 28, 2023.[1] The channel first aired dramas like Jindo, Kabli Pulao and others. The audiences received Kabuli Pulao well, as VOA Urdu [2] listed the drama serial among the prominent dramas of 2023. [3]

History

Founded by Fasih Ur Rehman, a graduate of Oregon State University. Green TV has completed one year in the industry. Different news outlets, including VOA, Dawn, and Express Tribune, have covered Green TV Entertainment's dramas for its choice of subjects and drama serials.[4]

Programming

Green TV featured stories like Gentleman, Kabli Pulao, and 22 Qadam.[5] Green TV’s drama Dunyapur has been touted as one of Pakistan’s most expensive drama serials by Dawn. [6] Its drama Collage Gate has been criticized for its similarity to Netflix shows Elite and Class.[7] Since its launch, Green TV Entertainment has offered several drama serials and shows. Gentleman

Gentleman shows life in inner-city Karachi and explores the details of gang violence. The drama is directed by Haissam Hussain and written by Khalil ur Rehman Qamar, with a cast including Adnan Siddiqui, Humayun Saeed, Sohai Ali Abro, Yumna Zaidi, and Zahid Ahmed.[8]

Kabli Pulao

Kabli Pulao highlights the importance of traditions in society. This drama is written by Zafar Mairaj. Its cast features Adnan Shah Tipu, Munazzah Arif, Nadia Afgan, Sabeena Farooq and Saqib Sameer.[9]

22 Qadam

22 Qadam is a story about the world of women's cricket. It is written by Zeeshan Ilyas casting Hareem Farooq and Wahaj Ali as main characters.[10]

Jeevan Nagar

Idiot is about all the misfits who refuse to accept the world as it is and struggle to shape it according to their own vision. It is written by Kifayat Rodani and directed by Anjum Shahzad. The cast includes Ahmed Ali Akbar, Atiqa Odho, Mansha Pasha, Nayyar Aijaz, and Shamil Khan.[12]

Jindo

Jindo is the story of a woman who defies all odds to fight for justice. Written by Qurban Ali Rao and produced by Anjum Shahzad. The cast includes Gohar Rasheed, Hajra Yamin, Humaima Malick, and Samiya Mumtaz.[13]

Nauroz

Nauroz is written by Kashif Anwar, and directed by Shahzad Kashmiri .[14]

In addition to its dramas, Green TV has also introduced reality show, such as Shark Tank Pakistan. This show adapts the popular global franchise, offering entrepreneurs a platform to pitch their business ideas to a panel of investors.[15]
