Draft:Greenbelt 2 station

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Greenbelt 2 station is a proposed Washington Metro station in Greenbelt, Maryland

History[edit]

The station is a part of two of several alternatives for the metro. As of 2024, the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority is currently evaluating alternatives which could take up to two decades[1]

Location[edit]

The station would be adjacent to Greenbelt 1, just towards the left of it. However, the station would have separate tracks.

Reason for proposal[edit]

Due to capacity issues at Rosslyn, the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority proposed a new Blue or Silver line route providing service to many new stations. This station was proposed as the terminus of a new Blue or Silver line that would run from their normal western termini (Franconia-Springfield and Ashburn) and would re-route after leaving Virginia and go to this station instead.[2]
