Gyan Chand Jain was born in 1932 in a small town named Giddarbaha (Punjab). It is known that during his school days, he developed a strong interest in electronics and pursued it as a hobby. He later graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Rajendra Govt College, Bhatinda (Punjab) in 1956.

Jain's literary career began during his college days in Bhatinda, However, his most notable contribution to literature lies in the field of Electronics & IT education.

In 1958, Jain authored the acclaimed book, "Building Your Own Transistor Radio," which gained popularity among students and sparked his journey as a prominent author in electronics. Furthermore, Jain is also credited as the author of the following books such as
