The Knowledge Exchange Office (KEO) is a unit within The University of Hong Kong (HKU). The office is responsible for developing and implementing the institution’s long-term strategy for knowledge exchange and maximizing the research impact in the community.[1]
Background[edit]
The University Grants Committee delivered the idea of “knowledge transfer” among the community and universities. From the academic year 2009/10, a yearly recurrent funding for universities to invest in knowledge transfer has been approved by the Legislative Council.[2] Therefore, the Knowledge Exchange Office is established in 2010. [3]

The office did not disclose the income in the academic year of 2020/21.[4] In academic year of 2021/22, the office recorded a 1.59 billion income and was ranked second across 8 UGC funded universities.[5] In academic year of 2022/23, the office recorded a 2.9 billion income and was ranked first across the UGC funded universities.[6]

- Professor Ian Chi Kei Wong and team members - Big-data pharmacovigilance of COVID-19 vaccines shapes public health policies. Professor Wong and his team have done a series of studies to identify potential negative consequences after COVID-19 vaccination. They analyze Bell’s palsy and carditis following vaccination via a nested case-control study.[10]
