Haileybury Bhaluka is an international boarding school in Mymensingh, Bangladesh affiliated with Haileybury College UK. Haileybury Bhaluka operates under Best Services Limited, a sister concern of Best Holdings Limited since October 2023.[1]

Campus[edit]

Haileybury Bhaluka has a 850-acre campus situated in a rural setting of Bhaluka, 75 kilometres north of Dhaka, in Mymensingh. The school has labs, a library, smart classrooms, an auditorium, a music school, a dining hall, and dormitory facilities. It also has football grounds, basketball courts, tennis courts, and other facilities for sports activities.[2][3]

Admission and Student Life[edit]

The school provides students aged between 11 and 18 years with an English education following different international educational systems. The Haileybury curriculum includes the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) in Years 9-10, and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) in Years 11-12. The school has a shorter school day on Thursday that enables boarders to be with their parents at the weekend.[2]

The annual fee of Haileybury Bhaluka is USD 34,500. Applicants are required to take a Cognitive Abilities Test (CAT4). Based on the performance in the cognitive test, scholarships up to 100 percent are offered. The school has a USD 15 million in funding for scholarships.[3][4]

On 11-15 June 2024, Haileybury Bhaluka organized the first-ever fully residential 5-day MIT Summer Workshop titled MIT Leading Edge International Student Conference in Bangladesh. MIT instructors attended in-person from Massachusetts Institute of Technology to guide the participants on Haileybury Bhaluka campus. The will unveil the mechanics behind underwater robotics, AI-powered wheelchairs, and handheld pollution mapping devices. There is also an opportunity to explore participating in an underwater Harry Potter Quidditch competition. The certificate was provided by the Edgerton Center of MIT after the successful completion of the program.[5][6]

The first batch of the school will begin in August 2024.[7]

Starting February 2024, Haileybury Bhaluka faculties will complete the Certificate in School Management and Leadership (CSML) program co-created by the Harvard Graduate School of Education and Harvard Business School under an agreement with Harvard University. The teachers will be trained on professional development in leadership themes including change, people, school strategy, and innovation.[8]
