Comment: I'm afraid that the notability concerns presented at the last review have not been addressed by subsequent edits. What coverage exists of the subject is usually local (principally the Advertiser & Times), and does not, in my view, qualify as significant coverage. As DoubleGrazing says, local politicians do not qualify for WP:NPOL without significant coverage. The subject's participation in the Newsnight interview is only afforded a trivial mention in the PinkNews article. IgnatiusofLondon (he/him • ☎️) 15:10, 9 April 2024 (UTC)
- Comment: Sources 1-4 are primary, and do not establish notability. The rest are secondary, but are mainly reporting what Phillips is saying, rather than covering her as the main topic. (And just for the record, local gov't politicians are not automatically notable under WP:NPOL.) For notability per WP:GNG, we need to see significant coverage, directly of the subject, in multiple secondary sources that are reliable and independent of the subject. Hannah Phillips (born 11 December 1999)[1] is a British politician, transgender activist, and YouTuber. Since 15 May 2023, she has been a Liberal Democrat councillor on Lymington and Pennington Town Council.[2]
Activism[edit]
In 2015, Phillips began uploading videos to YouTube under the moniker HannahPhillipsReal.[3] The account publishes guidance for parents of transgender children.[4]
In 2016, Phillips began taking hormone blockers using the NHS Gender Identity Development Service.[5] In 2019, she appeared on a BBC Newsnight episode on hormone blocker treatment, and was the only transgender person involved in the show.[6]
In 2019, Phillips founded New Forest Pride.[7] The event was postponed multiple times before being held.[8] In November 2019, Phillips spoke out against various hateful comments and threats made against her,[9] telling PinkNews that she received 'vile' threats on a daily basis.[10]
Political career[edit]
In the 2023 United Kingdom local elections, she was elected to the Lymington and Pennington Town Council,[11] the first openly transgender member elected to the council,[4] winning against all three Conservative incumbents.[11] In her campaign, Phillips had advocated for more unisex public toilets in the New Forest,[4][12] safer streets, more environmental protection, and investment in Lymington's high street.[4] She supports an improved local cycling network.[13]
Personal life[edit]
Phillips moved to Lymington aged 18. She previously took part in an Extinction Rebellion protest, but is not a member of the group.[4]
