Hinagahime (肥長比売), was the spouse of Homutsuwake no Mikoto for just one day.

Marriage[edit]

After Homutsuwake no Mikoto learnt to speak, he went to live in a palace at Ajimasa.[1][2] Once he moved here, he married Hinagahime.[1][2] Yet, the same night, she turned into a serpent, so Homutsuwake no Mikoto flees. He flees up some valleys until he reaches Yamato Province. Hinagahime is left behind.[1][2]

Other than marriage[edit]

Outside of her marriage, she is believed to be a goddess of Hinokawa River which flows through Izumo plains. She might also be a Yōkai.[3]
