Hovey Brock (born Mitchell Hovey Brock, 1958) is an American contemporary artist and writer whose primary mediums are acrylic and oil painting. Since 2017, his paintings and writing have been focused on the climate crisis in his #CrazyRiver project. Brock was born in Princeton, NJ, and grew up in Paris, France, and New York City. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Princeton University and a Masters of Fine Arts degree from the School of Visual Arts. He currently resides in the upstate Catskill Mountains town of Claryville NY and also in Richmond, Virginia. Brock's art work has been featured in Art Spiel [1], The Brooklyn Rail [2], Brooklyn Journal [3] and the New York Times [4]. His writing appears regularly in The Brooklyn Rail [5].
